Sorry

I apologize for including you all in my anger.

I realize that the things I wrote in my previous e-mail were neither kind nor compassionate.

I am sure the couple who run that store are just doing the best they can to make a living and while I do not appreciate the lack of respect and kindness they exhibited toward me and my children, it doesn't make it right (nor is it particularly useful) to aim such ire and venom toward them.

I imagine that to them any incident that damages an item and reduces their profit is taking away from their livelihood. For whatever reasons, they do not seem to understand or appreciate the norms of etiquette and respect shop owners typically show their clientele.

My apologies. I hate being unkind and sadly I let my anger get the better of me.

Don't be too hard on yourself--you vented on your blog, which is much less unkind than yelling or name-calling in person. I think you're entitled to blow off some steam.

It's hard to practice kindness when people are so intolerant and mean!

From what you wrote, it doesn't sound like you have much to apologize for! I'm sure the store owners are trying their best and maybe if they knew of their rudeness they could do even better. Just think of it as constructive criticism!! A little angry but still constructive!

By the way, I love reading your blog occasionally b/c of honest posts like these. Makes me feel like there are other normal opinionated moms out there.

I agree you are being too hard on yourself. To feel that you should never show anger is a bit much, no? Cut yourself a break, girl!

From what I read of the letter, you are justified in the anger. It sounds as though the owners have issues with children. If this is the case, they should post a sign, "No children allowed in the store." Then there would be no question as to their intentions and give them the right to rudeness if a customer violated the sign. Otherwise, vent on and bring more kids with you next time!
